ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I work with various subjects and media, rejoicing
in the abundance nature provides us all. Also, I'm
concerned about Earth's Ecosystems, looking at large
percentages of land where surrounding waters are
deteriorating due to our coastal developments,
modern fishing practices, and carbon toxins, all
potentially causing warming of Earth, while
threatening our terrestrial rhythms of life. And,
water covers almost seventy-five percent of Earth
while we live on its islands.
Everything on the planet needs water to survive,
and our Oceans and Waterways are the engines for
Earth's circle of life. Scientists of marine biology
are sending an urgent plea for preservation of the
world's fragile and rapidly deteriorating water
ecosystems. And all of Earth's ecosystems are tightly
knit into a global continuum of energy, nutrients,
and organisms the biosphere in which we live.
As human influence affects all the world's ecosystems
to some extent, even the most isolated, I explore our
life sustaining waters; oceans, coral reefs, coral atolls,
lakes, rivers, wetlands and ponds. It has been said,
if we respect all life, and make the planet safe for
every creature .... then the planet will be safe for us.
I peer into living forms, choosing my medium by
sensing exciting colours in the landscape of life to
capture the inner light. My unique perspective of the
universe, and loving all that nature is, results in
visual images that move freely between realism,
with intuitive images mingling with floral motifs,
and abstracts, evolving from rhythmic forms,
transformative, emoting rich colours. My multimedia
collage original artworks that are created on hand made
Nepalese Lokta paper and fine art papers, have also
led me to experiment with multimedia giclée very
limited edition prints.
